If this doesn't say Kombat Unit, er, Torture Device, nothing does. Familiar characters doing familiar things, and you've used...

Its a great piece. I've felt you've always 'neglected' your strength in line art, and this is a celebration of it. ...

That's awesome. I don't know who you all are, but I do know some of you, the more dedicated types, who peruse my page again and again, sifting through my obsessive line art and weak colour renders and make this entire Deviant art venture worthwhile! I am throwing my thanks out now, eager for more, of course, as long as I earn it!

Such a great time to reveal to the green tinged regulars (and like minded randoms) the inspiration I have found online for my ork drawings. There are (appropriately) oceans of greenskin lovers out there labouring away at creating unique and interesting ork drawings and models. The following links are some of my favorites;

NightSerpent's Orks

This guy is a genius, a technical master and his table top conversion work is beyond par. The gritty, bloody, detailed but simple conversions are expertly posed and painted. To say his work cannot be beat is a tough call but he is in the upper echelons of orky artwork

[link]

La Galerie a Bibi

Don't let the title fool you. These ork (and many other 40k army) collectors from France are also some of the best I have ever found. Their ork army is, beyond any other measure, painted at the highest quality, has a strong mix of old and new table top units, great conversions, even more great conversions, insane conversions, and hilarious conversions. Extra points for those who can identify a possible reference for Milka, the Ork Savage Boss. Hint, similar to Tintin in medium and era.
[link]

Wargaming Concept Art

I don't know who draws these ork boys but I think they work for GW's concept team and their work puts me to shame. Watch the Weirdboyz and the kickass Stormboyz.

[link]

IronDog's Studios

This man exemplifies orky dedication, attitude and technical skill. His conversions are a more traditional than, say, Nightserpent's insane custom jobs or the French Waaugh's insane obsession to detail but his site is great, his models are full of character and great orky attitude, and his re-photoshoped battle reports are fun and full of goodness.
Tater Titan FTW

[link]

Forgeworld Ork Biker Boss

Last but not least, the professionals themselves, the elite crew, I cannot believe the detail in this model, it makes me drool, its so perfect, pizza cutter and all

[link]

More Orkspiration to come later! There's a lot more out there, and I haven't even touched on deviantartists yet! Keep up the good work people!

and I promise to post more! Honest!

Your work seems heavily influenced by Geoff Darrow considering your eye for small, elaborate details. Great stuff!
So, do you ink in Photoshop?

no, actually, I haven't heard of Geoff until now, but I can really see the similarities, as in, I would love to be as good as him in oh say 10 years when I am 40 or so. His attention to detail and fine thin lineart are amazing, his strength in perspective and composition are great! Thanks for the comparison, good to see I am following in such, er, how to say, strong lines of progress.

He's got some great stuff out there, not alot though. He also did some of the environments and concept work for the Matrix Trilogy.
Like I said, you've got some great stuff, man-- can't wait to see more. 'Specially dem Orkses!

*appears magically* Yar, good day thar! Been a while since I said bo-peep round 'ere so I thought I'd drop by and say howdy.

So... Howdy! I hope things are well over the other side of the globe where your abode is. It's cold where I live at the moment, but I have some new lovely orange leg warmers which keeps the frost bite at bay.

Anyhow, enough of my crap - be sure to drink plenty of fungus beer, it's part of any Ork's healthy unstable diet, and take care :ahoy:

Hey thanks! Sorry for the delayed response, been out and about you know.

You have been gone for a while, what's up?

Frostbite in Aus, ah yeah, it is 'winter time' over there isn't it, its summer here now (technically at least) and here's an example of OUR winters:

I'm gonna drive that kustom trukk someday I am

Hey no worries, I realise you're a human with a life outside of the internet :D (wish I could say as much about myself these days...)

Well, in a nutshell, shit hit the fan on Mothers' Day - got laid off at work, broke up with my boyfriend, and a few other things (all in one f^cking day). So I pretty much camped at my friends' house for what felt like years spacing out until I went to Sydney to see my Bro, then bought a plane ticket to go visit my parents in Taz, and came back home to space out some more. Joined up for Tafe (educational place) next term so I can do something productive though, that starts July 22nd (it's a business cert II; nothing fancy, but it's full time). I'm feeling better, all in all.

:ohnoes: Yah that video is exactly why I'll probly only ever go somewhere that cold for a holiday - I have enough trouble trying to reverse out of the garage, let alone a carpet of snow.

I'm sure that trukk'll drive like um... a trukk! Bigger they are, the more grunt they have which is always good. My nan has a similar thing out the back of her place, it looks kind of like Mater from Cars except the trat is wooden and bonet has a dent in it from an arrow :paranoid: (I missed the hay stack).

You're welcome; I look forward to your next peice, they're always well done (I never noticed til recently but :devtorturedevice: has a similar drawing style to you :D ). Oh cool I'm glad I am able to inspire you! I just hope my latest picture doesn't uninspire you ^^; (I usually don't do gender benders images, let alone tough hairy women in bikinis).

Got laid off and cut it off with the Significant Other, man, that is a rough day. My boss giving me grief about taking unofficially long lunches today was enough to put me in a horrible mood so I can see how that would demand a large step back and reevaluation of where you and where you're going. Ugh! Drama! Isn't it horrible? Hopefully things are turning out better for you, jobs are just jobs, there are others (well hopefully) and at least they all have one bonus, getting paid. What is a business cert II? Is that some sort of business degree? There are obvious differences between NA and Aus educational systems I guess.
A little snow never hurt anyone, well not anyone without the right boots anyways.
The truck will turn out nice in a few months, I will post pics of it finished in scraps maybe.
The next piece is almost done!
Hah yeah =torture-device do have similar art styles, he just has a much stronger grasp of his than I do of mine. I don't draw enough, there's my excuse! But its summertime, hard to stay indoors. Too many things to go do.
Have a good'un!

I hope you have better luck with your career than I had - one thing I feel though, when working for someone else, is to only do your job - don't do anything more or anythign less, because 99% of the time you won't get anything in return. A sad and perhaps selfish way to look at life I suppose, but at the end of the day it's not what you know it's who you know and being a hard worker isn't going to make your job secure. And there is no way I'll ever lick up to some stranger just so I can continue work like a slave for them. My only exceptions to that rule is if I was working for the Military and/or my family and friends - my country and family is always worth putting something that I'd go above and beyond for, but for others... well, unless they pay you more, don't do more than what's required.

Anyway, now that I have that rant of me chest... I hope you're having a much better day at work today than you did the other day. I'm doing fine, hunting for jobs and all that - I've got social welfare to help me out so I'm not out on a limb, just have to watch what I spend my money on is all.Certificates are below degrees; it goes certificates 1 to 4, then to diploma, and onwards to degress (or something like that). I basically go to a place called TAFE (I forget what that acronym means) which is a step up from high school but a step below University. If all goes well, I actually plan to apply for university next year... (only my sister knows about this). I have had many dreams, but I decided that I would try somethign completely different from all of them - I want to learn a second and maybe third language and become a teacher, so I can travel the world and teach english (probly Japansese and German because the closest university to me does those - and my sister wants to do Japanese as well). Whether that all happens though depends on several factors, the major one being that I actually have to be accepted into Uni first... second most important thing, I have to work out accomodation. First thigns first though, apply for uni and see if I fail.

I guess I'm just lazy because the idea of having to plough my driveway free of snow every winter just seems too bothersome. But then again, I'm the kind of person who thinks getting the mail from the mail box is too much effort ^^; I swear, my cats have influenced my habtits :paranoid:

Oh yes please don't post some pictures of the truck done up; even if you just put them on photobucket. Do you paln to give it a funky paint job? (red maybe? :D )

Oooh I look forward to your next peice - I've got half a mind to pester you to tell me what it is, but my other half of my mind also wants to just wait and see (I like surprises [good ones, anyway]). I'm hoping to get a major piece done soonish too - I aim for it to be finished before I go away to Tazzie again in August (it's the Girftart for GH-M).

I think you and Torturedevice have equally good art; art is a hard thign to compare, because we each have our own styles, but I really do think that both your galleries are very good. Yes, lap up the sunshine whilest you can! If you ever get sick of snow in winter time, you can always come to this burnt out dust bowl.

I'm making the best of it at the moment  you have a good one too.
