The Waaagh! is a great site that focuses on (primarily) 40k ork modeling and conversion work and (secondarily) fantasy warhammer greenskins and (very last last lastly) whatever else actually exists in this franchise. I go there quite a bit and look over all the conversions and custom builds that people do. Model painting techniques are really good for learning some basic character rendering in digital art, and the creativity that flows from these model builders is amazing and infectious. It was through this, and the 40k deviant art chatroom, that I got the idea for the Commissork in the first place (the characters had been modeled many times, especially for Bloodaxe armies, and many of them are posted in The Waaagh's forums)
The modeling forums have some great threads and I highly suggest people look through it if they're interested.
The highlight of all this is that after posting the lineart for the Commissork I was on The Waaugh and noticed some great commissork models done by a member named Nozeminer. I gave him a message and linked him to my image in case he found it interesting. He responded later that day to tell me that someone else had linked him to my image from Deviantart two hours before asking for a custom sculpted character based on the image! Small world indeed!
When I heard about this I was obviously elated and followed the WIP build thread throughout its completion. The model is done now, and here's the thread;

Nozeminer finished this a few days ago, so I whipped up the colour version of the Commissork as I was greatly inspired by his work. Seeing that these metal ruminations I have inspire other people is very uplifting and does nothing but encourage me to do more (as I really don't do as much as I should).
So thanks, Noze, and Grimpond, for having the inspiration, desire and work ethic to pull this off!
